Getting older has its up and downs and unfortunately for my mom and many other women her age trying to stay looking young has definitely been an uphill battle. Many of the tips and tricks that worked when you were younger no longer work, or worse yet, they actually make you look older. However a few of the tricks still do work and together me and my mom have been testing out new ones, and recently got into trying food based makeup after hearing about it on TV. Here our a few of our favorites so far.
Blackberries For Lip Color
Blackberries are delicious, everyone loves them, well I do at least. However besides snacking on, they have other uses, in our case its their precious deep reddish purple color. Ever noticed your lips stained after eating one too many black berries? Well we are taking it to a whole other level. Squeeze the juice out of just a few blackberries and and then apply the juice to your lips using a q-tip and keep your lips from touching for about three to four minutes. After simply wipe off any extra juice and you should have a nice lip stain that won’t run or leave marks on everything they touch.
Cherries For Cheeks
If blackberries just aren’t your color you can use cherries the exact same way to give a more deeper red on your lips that can look great too. Also because of these nice deep color they also can make a great blush around your cheeks. You can do this in either one of two ways, but make sure to start light either way. Our favorite is to squeeze a small amount of juice onto a small plate and then dab our first two fingers into the juice and then carefully rubbing it into our cheeks and then giving it a few minutes to set. Some people also like to just simply squeeze the cherries until they have then juice on their hands and then apply it that way but it tends to get a little messy.
Super Spirulina Eye Shadow
Spirulina has a super deep green color which comes from deep sea algae and makes one awesome color when combined with just a tiny bit of water and works terrific as eye shadow. In order to do this just mix it with a small amount of water like we said, you don’t want it to get too runny. Then you simply use a q-tip and carefully apply it around your eyes, give it a few minutes to set and then wipe off any excess.
